Josh started his career as an actor, but as his voice matured he decided to switch to singing. Located on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts offers free conservatory-style education to students.
As part of “The Prayer” duet with Celine Dion for the 1998 Grammy Awards, David Foster asked Josh to replace an injured Andrea Bocelli. Series creator David E. Kelley asked her to perform “You’re Still You” in Ally McBeal’s season four finale.
As Pierre Bezukhov, he was nominated for a Tony Award in 2017 for his performance as Natasha in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, in which he appeared in two professional productions. Josh was born in Los Angeles, California on February 27, 1981. He was raised by a businessman father and a schoolteacher mother. An Episcopalian Episcopalian and his mother and father are both of Eastern European, German and Norwegian descent. During his school’s cabaret night in seventh grade, Groban performed a solo in the song “S’wonderful” and made his public debut.
For two summers in 1997 and 1998, he attended an arts camp in Michigan where he focused on musical theater and began taking voice lessons. He graduated from high school in 1999 at Los Angeles County High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Josh began working for David Foster as a rehearsal singer during that year, singing the duets of Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion as a backup. Records had been offered to him after only four months, so he dropped out of college to pursue a full-time singing career.

Josh A Christmas album by Groban and the London Symphony Orchestra and Magdalen College Choir was released in October of the same year. In just ten weeks, “Noel” had surpassed all previous sales records for a Christmas album in the United States. “Nol” was nominated for a Grammy and a Juno award.
On January 18, 2009, Josh and Heather Headley sang a duet at the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama. Groban’s next album, “Illuminations”, was produced by Rick Rubin in 2012. Josh wrote or co-wrote 11 of the album’s 13 tracks for the first time in his career. In 2011, he embarked on an 83-city tour to promote his new album Straight to You. Josh played Tolstoy’s character, Peter Bezukhov, in the Broadway musical “Natasha, Peter and the Great Comet of 1812”. Groban’s performance earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. in 2018, Josh released his eighth studio album, “Bridges”. The album debuted at number two in the US and number ten in the UK in its first week.
